Students at the international conference Parliamentarism in the Countries of the East

The students from the Institute of Foreing Languges, specialising in Chinese studies, recently participated in an international conference “Parliamentarism in the Countries of the East” held at the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

At the conference, they had the opportunity to listen to the reports of prominent figures such as Sergei Mironov, the president of the Just World Institute and chairman of the political party “A Just Russia – For Truth,” as well as Kirill Babayev, the Director of the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Alikber Alikberov, the Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The conference also featured presentations from esteemed scientists representing the country’s prominent scientific institutes dedicated to studying the countries of the East: Institute of China and Contemporary Asia, the Institute of Oriental Studies and Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences. These scientists shared their research findings and insights during the conference.

This event provided the students with a firsthand experience of how Oriental researchers work and highlighted the high demand for the profession of an orientalist in modern Russia. They were able to witness Russia’s growing focus on the East, commonly referred to as the “turn to the East.” We have high hopes that these students will become successful professionals in the near future, inspired by their interaction with leading scientists and researchers from the countries of the East.
