MCU at the Final of the Global Competition on Design for Futures in Beijing

From 23 to 25 October, Beijing Normal University hosted the final of the Global Competition on Design for Futures (GCD4F).

Launched in 2018 at the initiative of Beijing Normal University in collaboration with the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education, the competition brings together students from around the world to propose innovative solutions to pressing challenges in science, education and society, including through the use of artificial intelligence (AI).

This summer, Moscow City University, in partnership with the Sberbank’s “Investment in the Future” Charitable Foundation, organised the regional stage of the competition for Eastern Europe and Central Asia. During the selection stage, students presented projects addressing pressing social and educational challenges through the use of AI. Following the regional selection process, the participants earned the opportunity to present their projects at the final in Beijing.

MCU was represented at the final by Vice-Rector Evgeny Silyanov, Deputy Head of the Centre for Strategic Development Yulia Afanasyeva, and Head of the Chinese Language Department Oksana Malykh.

On behalf of MCU, Evgeny Silyanov congratulated the students who had successfully passed the regional selection and advanced to the final of the international competition, wishing them every success and further achievements. He extended special congratulations to the competition winners. He also took part in the award ceremony for mentors, highlighting their important contribution to preparing participants and supporting the development of student projects.

The competition final provided a platform for presenting promising ideas, exchanging experience internationally, and strengthening cooperation between educational institutions from different countries.
