On May 15, Moscow City University (MCU) and Abai University signed an agreement to implement the double degree programme “Primary Education in a Multicultural Society”. MCU’s Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of Education will be the base for conducting this programme. Both universities represent culturally diverse countries with rich histories, cultures, and traditions, making this programme a valuable opportunity for future teachers to develop their skills while embracing cultural diversity.
The establishment of this double degree programme is an important step in the long-term cooperation. Participating students will have the unique chance to study at both universities, engage in conferences and competitions with Abai University students, and gain a deeper understanding of each other’s cultures. Faculty members from MCU’s Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of Education and Abai University will work together to guide the students. Upon completion of the programme, students will receive diplomas from both universities, as well as valuable experience and knowledge that help them stand out in the labor market and enhance their professional success.
The visit also included a tour of the MCU School, where Vladimir Sharkov, Headmaster, and Elena Khristenko, Deputy Director for Education Quality, welcomed the delegation. They showcased the school’s successful implementation of tutoring and additional education programmes. Abai University expressed interest in learning from MCU’s experience in establishing a school within the university structure to ensure a seamless educational pathway for students.
