Department of Linguistics and Translation Studies
The Department has a rich history, being established in 2001. With over two decades of experience, it has flourished, forming strong theoretical foundations and carving out distinct research directions. These foundations have been instrumental in shaping the development of the Department’s main educational programmes at the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree levels.
The department takes great pride in its esteemed faculty, who are actively involved in professional associations such as the Association of Teachers of Translation and the Russian Association of Linguists and Cognitologists. Their expertise and dedication to their craft have been recognised by their involvement with the prestigious N.N. Gavrilenko School of Translation Didactics and the organising committee of the International Linguistic Colloquium. The educational programmes offered by the department are carefully designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become highly qualified translators, interpreters, and specialists in interlanguage and intercultural communication. The curriculum also places emphasis on theoretical and applied linguistics, as well as the integration of new information technologies into the field of translation and language studies.
