On October 9, 2025, Moscow State University hosted the VII Forum of Rectors of Universities of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Cuba. This event is one of the key platforms for establishing connections and strengthening cooperation between Russian and Cuban universities — a point repeatedly emphasized by the Presidents of both countries. Moscow City University was represented at this significant event by Evgeny Silyanov, Vice-Rector, and Elena Tareva, Director of the Institute of Foreign Languages. The delegation was accompanied by Anna Shevchenko, Assistant at the Department of Romance Languages and Linguistic Didactics.
The Russian delegation included Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Sergey Ryabkov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Viktor Sadovnichy, President of the Russian Union of Rectors and Rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University, as well as rectors and representatives of universities from across the country.
On the Cuban side, participants included representatives of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Cuba, headed by Walter Baluja García, Minister of Education, representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Russian Federation, and rectors and vice-rectors of leading universities of the island — the University of Havana, the Havana University of Technology, the University of Moa, the University of Las Tunas, the University of the East, the University of Holguín, the University of Ciego de Ávila, and the University of Camagüey, as well as representatives of the Higher School for the State and Government and the National Center for Agricultural Health.
The key themes of the forum included the prospects for bilateral scientific and educational cooperation, the development of academic mobility, the creation of joint educational programs and research centers, the strengthening of inter-university associations, the formation of human resource potential for the economies of both countries, and the expansion of cooperation in multilateral formats, including interaction within the BRICS framework.
