Professor Pablo Javier Olabe Sánchez is visiting MCU to promote healthy lifestyle and share his expertise in the fields of physiotherapy and aquatics. Being engaged in physical rehabilitation for 20 years, Pablo Olabe has established a specialized Aquatic Physiotherapy Center in Spain. He is now reaching out to the countries outside the EU to introduce his original methods of maintaining good physical shape and recuperating after illnesses.
On July 4 Pablo Olabe met with the director of the Institute of Lifelong Learning Marina Shalashova, to discover the system of continuous education established at MCU, and the Silver University initiative. Professor offered to arrange workshops for the elderly students of the Silver University and to launch an instructor’s training program for teaching the methods of aquatic physiotherapy to be applied in Moscow’s swimming pools. After the discussion of cooperation opportunities, Professor was shown around the Start Pro Project Creative Center for school students.
Pablo Olabe also visited the Moscow’s Center for Innovate Sports Technologies where he met with Aleksey Korshunov, international relations coordinator at the Institute of Natural Sciences and Sports Technologies. The colleagues were introduced to the high-tech sports medical and research equipment and social programs on sports guidance implemented by the Center. Of special interest was the modern swimming pool used by both professional athletes and patients under rehabilitation. Professor was impressed by thу 3D motion capture system that is applied for objective diagnosis of patients’ health condition.
By the end of the visit, the parties discussed the prospective projects of mutual interest, including internships in anatomy and physiotherapy for MCU students and teachers at the platform of the Center, increase of student and staff exchange, schedule and format of the future trainings.
