In accordance with the amendments to the Federal Law “Concerning the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation”, from December 29, 2021, some groups of international citizens who arrive in the Russian Federation are required to undergo a registration procedure with Russian migration authorities.
The procedure includes a medical examination, fingerprint registration, and photographing. See details about the registration procedure in the Procedure for Incoming International Citizens page.
International students whose stay in Russia is planned for more than 90 days must undergo the procedure before the submission of documents for visa extension. International employees, whose stay in Russia is planned for more than 30 days are required to undergo the procedure within 30 days from the date of entry into Russia.
The following individuals are exempt from the procedure:
- Citizens of the Republic of Belarus;
- Individuals with two citizenship, one of which is Russian;
- Individuals with temporary or permanent residence permit.
