The registration campaign for the VIII season of the All-Russian Academic Competition “I am a Professional” has been completed. During 48 days of registration, 689,259 applications for participation were received from 185,610 students of Russian universities from 89 regions of our country and 101 foreign countries.well-deserved award and wish her further scientific achievements.
The All-Russian Academic Competition “I am a Professional” is a project of the Presidential Platform “Russia – a Country of Opportunities”, which is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia.
“Over the years, the “I am a Professional” has become an indicator of activity and involvement of universities in the career development of students. In the VIII season, 1059 students from universities and branches applied for participation, and it is especially valuable that 88% of applicants are regional universities, which strive to create new opportunities to improve the competitiveness of graduates. The interest of students from different regions of the country is the best proof of the project’s relevance, growing awareness and a balanced approach to entering the labour market among young people” notes Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

Moscow City Pedagogical University is the organising university of the direction “Pedagogical Education (basic)”.
The “I am a Professional” in the ecosystem of projects of the Presidential Platform “Russia – a Country of Opportunities” covers a special audience – students who are to form an effective talent pool of Russia. In Season VIII, the participants had the opportunity to pass to the final stage thanks to diplomas from other projects of the Russia – Country of Opportunities platform. 200 people took advantage of the benefits. Thanks to the project, participants will be supported in their career development and prepared for future employment. The practice-oriented tasks developed by the 33 organising universities together with industrial partners will help to assess the level of competencies, identify growth points and chart a route for further development, including with the help of the “I am a Professional” tools and other projects of our platform”, said Andrei Betin, Executive Director of “Russia – Country of Opportunities” and Rector of Senezh Management Workshop.
An innovation of Season VIII was the provision of access to the career portal to the participants of the qualifying stage. Previously, the opportunity to respond to vacancies from the country’s leading employers was open only to diploma holders and participants of the final stage with non-zero results. Now every student interested in professional development will be able to try their hand at internships with more than 700 industry-leading companies.
Interest in the “I am a Professional” across the country has not waned and is constantly growing: according to the results of the registration campaign, St. Petersburg, the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Krasnodar Territory, and the Sverdlovsk Region are among the top five leaders. The most active and interested in career development young people traditionally represent metropolitan universities – more than 48 thousand students from Moscow have become part of our ecosystem. The Competition provides equal chances for everyone, regardless of the region, helping not only to test their knowledge, but also to build a clear trajectory of professional development. I am sure that the participants of Season VIII are the young specialists who will drive forward the key industries of the country, forming the personnel sovereignty and strengthening the foundation of Russia’s technological development,’ said Valeria Kasamara, Head of the All-Russian Academic Competition “I am a Professional”.
On 15 November, the selection stage of the Competition will start, during which young people will be able to test their knowledge by solving tasks composed by academic experts from 33 host universities and representatives of leading Russian companies. The best participants, who will receive the status of the project’s diploma holder, will receive privileges when entering the next level of education, and for medallists there are cash prizes of up to 300 thousand rubles.
The All-Russian Academic Competition “I am a Professional” is being held for the eighth time, and over the years the project has united more than 1.4 million students from all regions of Russia and 101 foreign countries. The Competition provides seeking and interested young people with an opportunity to decide on their future profession, to choose a really interesting activity that will bring not only benefit to the country, but also the pleasure of career development. In the “I am a professional” ecosystem, young people try their hand in different fields, experimentally identify their professional preferences and support the trend towards multidisciplinarity, which shows the new generation’s demand for comprehensive development, multi-disciplinary knowledge and skills. “I am a Professional” unites the most talented students and makes professionalism a value.
