The event took place from November 22 to 24, 2023, and was dedicated to the theme of education transformation in a rapidly changing world. The event was attended by more than 750 participants, including researchers, educators, and experts from 30 countries.
The series of plenary sessions of the international conference included reports by major education researchers and educational policymakers on the following issues: perspectives for teacher education, educating teachers to educate future teachers, transforming metrics for assessing quality and productivity of education research, implementation of artificial intelligence in education, educating future teachers for sustainable development, educating children and adults with special needs and more.
Two groups of researchers represented MCU at the conference. Rector Igor Remorenko and Head of the International Relations Department Daria Milyaeva presented the results of the study of social entrepreneurship practices of urban universities aimed at acceleration and intensification of technological and socio-cultural development of urban communities. In turn, another group was represented by the staff of the Research Institute of Urban Studies and Global Education, namely Director Svetlana Vachkova and researchers Valentina Salakhova and Natalia Ageeva, who prepared a comparative study of career trajectories of teachers across different Asia-Pacific countries.
The goals of the MCU delegation’s participation in the WERA international conference included intensification of international comparative research conducted in cooperation with foreign partners, identification of new ideas, and actual directions of scientific research, and development and strengthening of the university’s network of international contacts.
The WERA is the world’s largest association of national and regional associations of educational researchers from different parts of the world. Within the framework of the international conference, researchers were able to exchange experience with experts from other countries and work together to solve current problems and challenges in the field of education.
