On February 17–19, Maestro Maurizio Ciampi, opera conductor, organist, composer of Conservatory of Music Santa Cecilia in Rome, held workshops at the Institute of Culture and Arts. The program of workshops included “Belcanto Style” and “Features of Opera Conducting”.
Students of the Institute of Culture and Arts, graduates as well as teaching staff, and a special guest Vladimir Borisovsky, countertenor, participated in the workshops.
The maestro talked a lot about the Italian vocal school, features of performing works in different styles, Italian culture and traditions.
The workshop featured another famous maestro Fabio Mastrangelo, who has been working in Russia for many years and speaks excellent Russian. The work proceeded according to a typical workshop schedule for vocalists: participants performed pre-rehearsed works. Maestro Ciampi made his remarks regarding the quality of voice, technical features, importance of breathing, accuracy of Italian pronunciation and correctness of the chosen repertoire.
Maestro Ciampi also met with the representatives of the MCU International Relations Department and discussed future international collaborations with the Conservatory of Music Santa Cecilia in Rome.
