From February to June, 105 students of the MCU’s Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of Education completed the online course for university students “School Communities”, developed by the Rybakov Foundation and the Far Eastern Federal University.
The main goal of the online course was to teach students and newly-employed teachers to communicate with parents in a positive way and to create parents’ communities connected with school.
In the theoretical part of the course, students learned more about school communities and their features. Participants also learned about community management, got acquainted with the cases of successful schools, teaching practices and useful educational innovations. In the practical part, participants of the course gained experience in solving different types of cases, for example on vocational guidance at school as part of teaching practice; improved the skill of storytelling and community organizing; tried to create school community on their own; gained experience in implementing a social project.
78 educational organizations in Moscow and the Moscow region acted as bases for practice.
Summing up the results of the online course, “School Communities” was held as part of the Summer Pedagogical Forum “Communities of Educational Organizations and Innovations”. The participants of the Forum, held on July 1, discussed the development of the entire pedagogical community, the formation of links between educational institutions to introduce innovative approaches to education, as well as the use of community development mechanisms in education and the involvement of parents in the process of educating their children.
According to the results of the forum, MCU took the second place for the implementation of the “School Communities” online course in terms of the number of participants among pedagogical universities in Russia.
