On February 3—10, the Russian Weightlifting Cup was held in Orel, Russia. Athletes from the MCU’s Institute of Natural Sciences and Sports Technologies successfully performed at the competition and qualified for the 2022 European Weightlifting Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Artem Okulov, MCU alumni, won in the 89 kg category with a total result of 362 kg, including 160 kg in the snatch and 202 kg in the clean and jerk.
In this category, Roman Chepik, a student at the Master’s program “Complex Scientific Support for Sports Teams,” took the silver medal. His result is 355 kg with 165 kg in the snatch and 190 kg in the clean and jerk.
Nikita Khrulev, a 4th-year Bachelor’s student, won the bronze medal in the 96 kg category with a total of 356 kg, with 160 kg in the snatch and 196 kg in the clean and jerk. Nikita Khrulev’s coach is Salim Khar’kovsky, a graduate of the Master’s program “Adaptive Training for Athletes.”
Yury Tusher and Dmitry Chernogorov, the teaching staff at the Institute of Natural Sciences and Sports Technologies, participated in the competition as juries of the All-Russian category.
