A seminar was held at MCU, focusing on the creative legacy of Lev Vygotsky in relation to technological development and the role of artificial intelligence (AI). The event was attended by a Research Fellow at the International Joint Laboratory of Behaviour and Cognitive Science and a professor at Zhengzhou Normal University (China) Mohamad El Maouch.
The researcher presented the ideas of Lev Vygotsky and their impact on the development and application of AI in education. During his speech, Professor Mohamad El Maouch noted that AI systems shouldn’t replicate animal or human intelligence, but rather abstract and reflect reality in a qualitative manner. He proposed the use of a pre-designed repertoire of meanings based on contradictions to expedite the learning process of AI systems, distinguishing it from existing models that rely on formal static knowledge. Within the framework of the discussion “Developing Learning and ‘Smart’ Digital Educational Environments: How Do They Fit Together in Russia and China?”, the participants of the event discussed the interaction of developmental learning and intelligent digital environments in education in the two countries.
The seminar was attended by Rector Igor Remorenko, Vice-Rectors Roman Komarov and Ruslan Suleymanov, Head of the International Relations Department Daria Milyaeva, as well as representatives of various MCU institutes, including the Institute of Digital Education, the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of Education, the Institute of Humanities, the Research Institute of Urban Studies and Global Education. In addition, the expert of the National Agency for Qualifications Development Fedor Dudyrev, and the Head of MCU Certification Center Olga Aigunova attended this event.
The seminar served as an important opportunity for participants to delve deeper into the intricacies of teaching AI systems and to share their perspectives on the impact and implementation of AI in education. It facilitated fruitful discussions among experts and practitioners in the field, highlighting the growing importance of AI technologies in transforming the educational landscape.
