Secrets of the Great Wall of China: history, architecture and significance

On February 1, 2025, a lecture was held on the Great Wall of China, one of the world’s most iconic and enigmatic architectural wonders. The event drew a large audience of prospective students and enthusiasts of Chinese history and culture, offering a deep dive into the wall’s historical significance and global impact.

Ekaterina Solyanko, Associate Professor at the Chinese Language Department, shared insights into the construction techniques used across different historical periods and the wall’s role as a fortification. She highlighted how its immense scale and strength symbolized security and resilience for ancient China.
