Pedagogical Stand-up: The Role of the School in the City

April 18, 2026, as part of the IX International Symposium “Education and the City: People and Institutions”, a project workshop entitled “Pedagogical Stand-up: The Role of the School in the City” will be held. Moderator — Ekaterina Barsukova, Research Fellow at the Laboratory of Educational Infrastructures, Institute for Urban Studies and Global Education, Senior Lecturer at the Directorate of Educational Programmes, Moscow City University.

In the format of short public presentations, students, teachers, and education researchers will present urban educational projects focusing on the following areas:

  • Managerial solutions in educational infrastructure;
  • Urban planning policy;
  • Children with diverse educational needs;
  • Urban educational infrastructure;
  • Technologies for effective private education.

The participants’ presentations will help to identify and discuss:

  • Which educational solutions are most effective in responding to the challenges of the urban environment;
  • How to design education within the “city as a resource” framework;
  • Which presentation formats for pedagogical ideas work best with contemporary audiences.

Thus, the project workshop will enable participants to exchange experiences, present practical approaches, and develop an understanding of effective strategies for developing the urban educational environment.
