MCU students at the International Conference on the Traditions and Perspectives in Teaching Foreign Language

October has proved to be very efficient in terms of cross-cultural communication between the MCU undergraduate students and international students from France and China.

On October 17 a special students’ event took place within the framework of the International Conference on the Traditions and Perspectives in Teaching Foreign Language. The Conference organized by the MCU Department of Methodology of English Language and Business Communication Teaching featured professors from different Universities in Russia and abroad. A special plenary report “The Art of Public Speaking” was delivered by a UK specialist Edward Evans, Academic Director of the BKC International House Moscow.

The Conference was a perfect opportunity for MCU students to practise their English language skills in actual international environment. Several groups of English and French language students participated in a workshop discussion under the title: «21st Century Teacher Professional Profile – What is it like?».

One of the student participants, Christine Bobyleva, comments on the event as follows:

While sharing our opinions and points of view about the status of the teaching profession in modern world, challenges that teaching profession faces at the age of the Internet and other general issues, we also practiced our language capacity and communicative skills. What is more – when talking to our French-native-speaking friends we discovered some culture specific aspects of the educational sphere. We talked not only about teachers and teaching, but we had a chance to listen and discover their opinions and thoughts about our country. Hopefully, we will have such interesting cross-cultural communication experience again in the near future.
