MCU experts joined in MIEF session

On October 8, MCU staff members participated in the session “New Outcomes in Advanced Professional Training: how to promote the facilitation of the acquired competencies to the teaching activities” at the Moscow International Education Fair.

Doctor Marina Shalashova, Director of the MCU’s Institute of Lifelong Learning, moderated the discussion on the issues of creating conditions for achieving new outcomes in advanced professional training. The participants in the discussion worked out answers to the questions of changes in the outcomes of advanced professional training and the fundamental novelty of professional development outcomes of teaching and administrative staff.

Associate Professor Dmitri Guzhelya from the MCU’s Institute of Digital Education presented a constructor of competencies necessary for modern educators. They have to be prepared for any changes, and it requires such competencies as analysis and development of solutions, planning and organization, communication and influence, result orientation, critical thinking, stress resistance, and self-development. The facilitation of these competencies in teaching and administrative activities remains the most important mission.

Besides, the research results show that employers, teaching staff, and pre-service teachers assess the competencies differently, which means that the right balance between them still needs development.

Olga Aigunova, Director of the MCU Certification Center, elaborated on the results of ongoing work at MCU. Moscow City University takes into account the feedback from the heads of educational institutions to improve the compliance of newly employed specialists with the employers’ requirements.
