Lecture on history of Japanese literature at MCU

On March 18, Associate Professor Victor Mazurik presented a lecture on the history of Japanese literature at the MCU’s Institute of Foreign Languages.

Victor Mazurik highlighted the main special features of Japanese literature in a general context of the development of Japanese culture. The speaker elaborated on the subtleties of Japanese literature and underlined the aspects which may be difficult to understand for international readers. After the lecture, Victor Mazurik answered multiple questions from the audience.

The lecture was held as part of the research school “Issues of Modern Foreign Literary Studies” within the 2022 Scientific Start Conference.

Victor Mazurik is a Candidate of Sciences in Philology, Associate Professor at the Japanese Philogy Department of the Institute of Asian and African Studies, Moscow State University. His research focuses on Japanese poetry, shinto, and folklore. Victor Masurik is a Japanese literary translator and was awarded with the Order of the Rising Sun, one of the most important Japanese national decorations.
