The MCU student theatre club featuring Chinese students majoring in Russian presented a Russian classic play to celebrate the end of semester on December 26. In the Chinese hall of the Institute of Foreign Languages the students staged a comic play ‘Marriage‘ by Nikolai Gogol and received a high appraisal from the audience. Both teachers and students laughed heartily and truly enjoyed the performance.
The actors performed outstandingly, perfectly portraying the characters and reproducing Russian intonations to savour Gogol’s style and jokes.
Besides staging the play, the students recited some Russian poetry about winter and snow.
The play was directed by Associate Professor Tatiana Kondratova and the performance initiated and supported by the Department of Chinese Language and the Center for Russian-Chinese Cooperation.
