The Informatization of Education Department is the first at MCU to give students an opportunity to write their Master’s theses and defend their research projects in English.
On June 17, Lenara Podluzhneva, student of the Master’s program International Baccalaureate: Theory and Technologies, defended her thesis paper “The comparative analysis of primary school curriculum stated by national educational standard and International Baccalaureate, Primary Years Programme to point out relevant approaches to transdisciplinary skills development’.
The research considers topical issues of primary education in Russia and the world, which attracted intense interest of the members of the MCU Examination Committee. The whole defense procedure was held in English, including the question and answer sessions and reviews by academics. The discussion featured comments by the Chairperson of the Examination Committee Svetlana Panyukova, members of the Committee, representatives of employers, and student’s academic supervisor Anastasia Pavlova.
The Committee supported the Institute’s initiative of presenting the results of students’ research in English and recommended to proceed with this practice in the future. Conducting and publishing research in English promotes international dissemination of scientific achievements of students and teachers of the International Baccalaureate: Theory and Technologies program.
Currently there are two more students supervised by the Informatization of Education Department working on the thesis papers in English.
