MCU assists in the organization of J-Anime Meeting in Russia

On November 14-15, J-Anime Meeting in Russia was held, which is an anime screening event by Japan Visualvideo Translation Academy.

Japanese Language Department of the MCU’s Institute of Foreign Languages was invited to assist in its organization. Its 20 members participated in the event, including the Head of Department Associate Professor Vladlena Fedyanina, professors and students. They were engaged in translating the subtitles, running the PR campaigns, and operating the event as well as covering it in the media.

Maria Jazova, a student of the Department, presented the anime ‘The Gourmet’ (1988), which tells the story of two Japanese traveling around the country in search of the perfect menu. The movie is an encyclopedia of the Japanese cuisine!

One more student Tatiana Dobryden’ was also a speaker of the event. She discussed the movie ‘Chihayafuru’ about an enthusiastic and ambitious girl who pursued the goal to win the nationals on Karuta, a Japanese card game.

Alexandra Zimina elaborated on ‘Kyojin no Hoshi(Star of the Giants), a classical anime. It was shot in 1968, when Japan was undergoing a drastic economical boom, and tells the story of a promising and hard-working baseball pitcher Hyūma Hoshi. The movie has become inspirating for the entire nation!

The Japanese party was represented by MCU alumna Maria Prokhorova.

On November 30, MCU Rector Igor Remorenko received a letter of gratitude from Navi Asakawa of JVTA, the executive producer of J-Anime Meeting in Russia. The Academy is privileged to be allowed to use the MCU’s logo and thanks MCU for its support of the event. The producer appreciates the Japanese Language Department’s staff and students for the active participation in the event. He also expresses hope to proceed the prolific cooperation of MCU and the Academy.
