On May 22 Dr. Haohsiang Liao from Massachusetts Institute of Technology presented the lecture titled ‘Digital technologies for learning foreign languages’ to the students and teachers of the Chinese Language Department.
Dr. Haohsiang Liao, Director of the Chinese Language Program at MIT, shared his experience of designing online language courses that give an opportunity to 200,000 people from all over the world to study Mandarin Chinese. The courses are based on the MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) technology that provides a synchronous and free access to learning to any number of users. Today many progressive universities use MOOCs, and many renowned professionals are eager to share their experience and knowledge via the platform.
