Zhejiang Yuexiu University of Foreign Languages is one of the leading universities in China, located in Shaoxing. The university, founded in 1981, includes two campuses; its libraries hold more than 2.25 million books in Chinese and other languages, in addition to about 1.44 million electronic resources. ZYUFL consists of 14 faculties and offers instruction in 17 foreign languages, including English, French, German, Russian and Japanese.
As part of the ongoing cooperation between MCU and ZYUFL, academic mobility programmes have been implemented since 2024: students from both universities participate in exchange programmes to study Russian and Chinese.
The participants discussed different formats of joint programmes (2+2, 3+1, 1+1) as well as the possibility of online exchanges not only in Russian and Chinese, but also in other areas. Representatives of Yuexiu expressed interest in short-term programmes for students, as well as the possibility of admission to MCU postgraduate programmes for bachelors.
Special attention was paid to scientific co-operation: joint work is planned in the field of digital linguodidactics, country studies, artificial intelligence in education. Both parties also expressed interest in fostering cooperation in the field of tourism. ZYUFL is interested in engaging MCU teachers to teach a discipline within the framework of the existing online programme, which could become a launching pad for further joint projects.
As a result of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue strengthening the existing partnership through joint research and educational programmes, expanding opportunities for students and educators from both countries.
