Discussing the Educational Potential of Chamber Theatres

April 16, 2026, as part of the IX International Symposium “Education and the City: People and Institutions”, a section entitled “Educational Opportunities of Chamber Non-State Theatres in Moscow” will be held. Moderator — Alexandra Nikitina, Leading Research Fellow at the Laboratory of Sociocultural Educational Practices, Institute for Urban Studies and Global Education, Moscow City University.

The meeting will be opened by Marina Bakhtina, Artistic Director of the Krylataya Dolina theatre space and Art Director of the Warm November Festival. She will present the community of non-state theatres in Moscow, its informational resources and educational opportunities.

The main content of the meeting will be “Ancient Theatre” — an interactive workshop and performance by the Moscow-based Theatre T from the Stroyka project. In the theatre’s repertoire, this workshop is designed for children and parents, but in the symposium format, its participants will be teachers, educators of supplementary education, and university and college lecturers. They will be able to experience the engaging and productive nature of such activities first-hand.

Additionally, Alexey Shashilov, Artistic Director of Theatre T, and Ekaterina Maksimova, the theatre’s Director, will discuss the artistic features and educational opportunities of their theatre, as well as how educators can obtain complimentary tickets to performances to become more familiar with their work.

The event will be held in person at 8 Sadovaya-Samotechnaya Street, Assembly Hall. Applications for participation are open; registration is available via this link.

Please note that several events will take place simultaneously at the indicated time. The full programme of events will soon be available on the symposium’s website.
