On May 17, Anna De Ambrosis Vigna, PhD, LL.M. Faculty of Law, University of Białystok (Poland), will give a presentation on “The legal framework of participation practices in education in the case of Poland” within the 2nd Annual International Symposium “Education and Сity: Participation Practices”, to be held from 16 to 18 May 2019.
The speaker presents different forms of participation practices in education in Poland. The author starts with the brief history of collaboration between families and schools. Later presents rules that regulate cooperation between parents and school, as well as between children and schools in the Polish legal system. Author concentrates mainly on internal school bodies: the student council board and the parent council. Although the law indicates formal forms of cooperation, the article describes also other forms of participation that enhance the education process and learning environment.
University of Bialystok is one of the youngest in Poland, but it was already confidently declared at the international arena as a major scientific, research and training center. In 2012, at the Annual Competition of Higher Educational Institutions of the country, the University received the certificate “Good University – Good Job” in the category “The Most Innovative and Creative University in Poland”.
