Irina Avrina on arranging leisure activities and her career at MCU

In 2020, Irina Avrina acquired a Bachelor’s degree at the MCU’s Institute of Culture and Arts, where she studied Social and Cultural Practices within the Program ‘Arranging and Staging Cultural Activities in Educational and Cultural Institutions.’

Why did you choose to study at MCU?

I have been engaged in arranging diverse activities since my teenage years when I joined an event-management community and started assisting its senior members. Some of them were MCU ICA students and were enrolled in this field of study. My friends arranged and conducted different events very competently.

When I was thinking to continue my training, MCU and this program were my only options. Though I was enrolled at MCU on a fee-paying basis, I always enjoyed the studies and later was transferred to state-funded tuition.

Please share one of the most memorable moments of your student life.

I vividly remember the Pancake Celebration Week arranged by me and my peers for the students and teaching staff of the Institute. We designed an entertainment program, dressed up in national costumes and celebrated Maslenitsa in every classroom by singing and dancing.

Why did you decide to work at MCU after graduation?

I feel confident about my personal and professional development. I know I can expand my expertise here. The faculty is responsive and always ready to help and support. Besides, I feel I am on the same page with students, and this inspires and encourages me to work hard.

What do you like most about your job?

The administrative staff are very open-minded so I always can openly share my ideas and I know they will be put into practice. I am also sure that my work has a valuable impact.

What are your professional aspirations?

I would like to continue working at MCU, develop my competencies and skills, and climb the career ladder further.
