MCU ranked highest for graduate employment

On June 15, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection released the first national employment ratings of college and university graduates, based on eight fields of study and two metrics: he employment rate and median monthly salary two years post-graduation.

Moscow City University ranked first in Education and Pedagogy for bachelor’s and specialist degrees, and shared the top spot in Humanities at the master’s level with the Pushkin State Russian Language.

MCU also placed 9th in Humanities and 18th in Social Sciences for bachelor’s/specialist programmes. Among master’s and residency graduates, MCU ranked second in Education and Pedagogy.

MCU also became one of the leaders in the ranking of graduate employment after master’s degree and residency. Moscow City University took the second place in the field of Education and Pedagogical Sciences.

Alexander Shirov, Director of the Institute of Economic Forecasting at the Russian Academy of Sciences, highlighted the uniqueness of the new rating system:

The ratings rely on an anonymised employment database that will be updated annually with data on nearly 1.5 million new graduates nationwide. This dataset far surpasses the scope of traditional expert reviews, surveys, or samples and has been compiled and analysed at this scale for the first time.

The data for the rating on the number, specialties, and forms of education of graduates come from the Federal Service for the Supervision of Education and Science, and on wages from the Pension and Social Insurance Fund of Russia.
